Season 2 Fan Theories — The Best Ones So Far
By BTOB Studios · February 14, 2025
The Discord has been running hot since the Season 1 finale. The #theories channel has over three thousand messages. Here are the theories that have made the writing team most uncomfortable — which is our way of saying they are worth reading.
Theory 1: Jormund Forged the Hammer
This is the most popular theory and the one we get the most DMs about. The evidence: Jormund’s age is impossible by normal means. His knowledge of the hammer is too specific. His deflections when asked about its origins are suspiciously practiced. The counterevidence: Le’Sender has records of the hammer. Jormund defers to Le’Sender’s expertise. These two things are compatible but also might be misdirection.
Theory 2: Freya Is the Previous Chosen
The hammer has had multiple chosen wielders over the centuries. Jormund mentions ‘the last smith’ who ended the previous Xevis incursion three hundred years ago. The theory holds that Freya is that person — that she survived through means connected to her Veil Walk ability, and has been waiting for the next chosen ever since.
The runes on her arms that predate current runic tradition would fit this timeline. The writing team has not commented.
Theory 3: What Hrafn Found Is a Key
Not metaphorically. Literally. A physical key to something buried beneath the Sundering Sea — which connects to the Veil that the elves and Trino both refuse to discuss. The theory requires coordinating three separate lore threads that we have not explicitly connected. We are impressed by the work.
Our Response
We are not confirming or denying any of these. We will say that Season 2 rewards people who have paid attention. That is all.
